Coffee Care’s Sumatra is grown in the Aceh region of Sumatra. Coffee was introduced to Sumatra by the Dutch East Indian Trading Company in the 17th Century from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). Coffee in Sumatra has had a colourful history, being nearly destroyed completely by war, disease and religion. Around 92% of coffee in Sumatra today is grown by small independent farmers who then sell their small crops to cooperatives that process and sell the coffee.
To experience this coffee at its absolute best, we recommend using one heaped dessertspoon per cup. You can experiment with this by playing with the dosage of water and coffee to suit your taste for each different blend or origin and brewing method. You can brew with filter, chemex and V60. For cafetiere add fresh water just off the boil and allow the flavour to develop for 3-4 minutes.
